out with a bang....the last sandwich of my 20's
So...today is my 30th birthday. I'm not gonna lie, I am LOVING it so far. I like birthdays. And "milestone" birthdays? Yay! I am going to eat the attention with a spoon and milk it ALL month long :)
Last night was my only night of this week to just chill out and cook and watch tv. I decided to go crazy and have a decadent yet easy dinner. This is another dish I was introduced to by the Companion bread people. And it is pretty much the best sandwich EVAR.
Are you ready for this? You had better sit down. Bread. Brie. Basil. Dark CHOCOLATE. Grilled. Yup. Amazing. A perfect end to a quite good youth. Washed down with some good red wine, of course.
UPDATE: thanks to the LA Times Daily Dish for the mention! Also, thanks again to Companion Bread for introducing me to this wonderful "Ebony and Ivory" sandwich. I'm a fan!

happy birthday madam chair! and welcome to your 30s. it's been nice so far here.
this has me thinking about what i'll eat on my 30th, which is just around the corner. first off, happy birthday -- and secondly, congratulations on a fantastic inaugural sandwich. enjoy your day!
I never would have thought to put those together. I'll have to try one in the summer when I'm drowning in fresh basil and tired of pesto. Thanks- enjoy your birthday in health
Congrats on your LA Times mention! And happy birthday! I LOVED turning 30 as well! 35, on the other hand, was a different story. ;-)
Oh, and, this sandwich is on the menu for one of my upcoming cooking classes!
Can't think of a much better early birthday present than a chocolate and cheese sandwich!!
I am so going to have to try this!
WOW! I saw this on Tastespotting and i had to comment.... I work with Alouette cheese and our baby brie would be awesome with this recipe. I love seeing unique recipes from Foodies. A lot of people don't think outside the box and would put chocolate and brie together!
